"Beauty and the Beast, Jr." performances
Please join us for SJA's 13th Drama Club Production, Disney's "Beauty and the Beast, Jr." There will be two performances, Friday, April 27 at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday, April 28 at 7:30 pm. in the SJA gymnasium. Tickets are $10 for Adults and $6 for Seniors and Students.
Our current drama leader, Pam Graffagna, has worked on all thirteen productions. “I think the program is important to the school, because it offers another option of the Arts in addition to the band program or choir programs,” Pam explains. “Fine Arts provides kids the chance to explore acting, dancing and singing in front of an audience. It gives them more confidence in their every day life. I know some of the children from our Drama Program have gone on to be great at speech and debate and even student government leaders”
The cast has been working on the production for several months with rehearsals every Wednesday after school. Pam shares: “The most rewarding part hasn't come yet. It is the finished product: our show! Seeing where we started in October and when we open the curtain in April is the best part of all of it. I tear up every time, even 13 years later.”

Sr. Carolyn announces faculty changes for 12-13 yr
Saint Joan of Arc School is committed to providing students with a firm foundation in the Catholic faith, thereby creating the opportunity and the means to achieve academic excellence. With this in mind we are making some innovative changes throughout the school for the 2012/2013 school year. These changes will be seamless and we will continue to provide an excellent education for your children.
In the junior high, we say good-bye to Mrs. Haeger, who will be retiring. We wish her well in her future plans. Miss Doyle will continue to maintain our standard of excellence in social studies. She will also continue to serve as a sixth grade homeroom teacher. Mrs. Zydron, our resident grammarian for so many years, will also be retiring. May she enjoy her leisure time with family and friends. Mrs. Sendlak and Miss Weber will be working as a team to continue the highest standards in the language arts area. Mrs. Sendlak will be emphasizing grammar as well as assuming the responsibility of an eighth grade homeroom. Miss Weber will be stressing literature, writing, and leading a sixth grade homeroom.
In the elementary grades many changes are occurring. Mrs. Bradburn will be retiring. Good wishes to her as she travels and spends more time with family. Mrs. Jablonski, our librarian, will be retiring also. We wish her exciting new adventures one chapter at a time. Mrs. Clark will be moving to 1A, Miss Mayor will be taking over in 2A, and Mrs. Barenbrugge will make her way to 3A. Mrs. Danner will serve as a kindergarten aide, Mrs. Dirienzo will be helping in fourth grade, and Mrs. Gascoigne will assist in fifth grade. New pre-school and kindergarten teachers will be coming on board.
Mrs. Collins will be retiring after 52 years of devoted service. We are sincerely grateful for the various roles to which she has dedicated her time and talents. Mrs. Brown, who will be leaving 3rd grade will continue to enhance the staff at Saint Joan of Arc in administration as our assistant principal. Mr. Wind will be semi-retiring staying on as a consultant.

Brian Michael Leonard '92 Memorial
Brian began his education at St. Joan of Arc School in the second grade and was a proud member of the Class of 1992. Brian’s family has shared that his favorite class was music with Mr. Boggs and he enjoyed playing basketball for the Chargers!
During Brian’s time at St. Joan of Arc School he made lasting friendships that continued throughout his life.
Brian was called to begin his eternal life in November, 2010, at the age of 32. Although devastated by their loss, the Leonard Family chose to celebrate Brian’s life by helping others and established the ‘‘Brian Michael Leonard Memorial Scholarship Fund” benefitting St. Joan of Arc School.
Last September, the first “Brian Michael Leonard Memorial Golf Outing” was held to benefit his Memorial Scholarship Fund at St. Joan of Arc School. This inaugural golf outing was so successful it has become an annual event. Please mark your calendars for the 2012 Brian Michael Leonard Memorial Golf Invitational, September 15th, at the Links of Carillon. Join us as we celebrate the life of this very special young man who will be forever in our hearts.
On behalf of the St. Joan of Arc Community, we express our heartfelt gratitude to the Leonard family and friends for this generous scholarship fund in Brian’s honor. A Memorial Plaque has been placed in the school hallway outside of the main office to commemorate Brian’s memory to future generations of St. Joan of Arc students.
